Yoo Seung Yeon, known professionally as Gong Seung Yeon, is a South Korean actress. She graduated from Sudo Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Acting from Sungshin Women's University. She is the older sister of TWICE's Yoo Jeong Yeon.
Before debuting, she first trained as a singer under SM Entertainment after winning the "Best Looks" portion of the SM Teen Best Contest in 2005. She made her debut in 2012 as the female lead in a commercial for Yuhan-Kimberly and also earned a role in the tvN drama "I Love Lee Tae Ri", all while she was still a trainee. She was a potential candidate for F(X) and RED VELVET, but a few weeks after debuting, she opted to pursue an acting career and left SM.
She began using her current stage name in 2014. Throughout her career, she has won multiple awards, such as the "New Star Award" at the 2015 SBS Drama Awards and "Best New Actress" at the 2021 Blue Dragon Film Awards, among others. She is represented by Varo Entertainment (바로엔터테인먼트).
